Leadership

I serve as deputy director of the Scientific Data Management, Analysis, and Visualization (SDAV) Institute, a ~5M/yr DOE Office of Science activity serving the needs of computational science on very large compute platforms. I also co-lead the data management R&D activities within SDAV, along with Scott Klasky (ORNL). SDAV provides numerous opportunities to connect with domain scientists and aid in scientific discovery.

I co-lead the Data Management component of the DOE Office of Science Exascale Computing activity, along with Gary Grider (LANL). Through this activity I have the opportunity to help shape the future of computing systems.

Additionally, I represent data activities under the Mathematics and Computer Science Division, helping define the vision for a team of scientists with a broad range of expertise in this area.
